SANTIAGO/SACRAMENTO. In Chile, the harvesting process has started and market players expect high starting prices. In the USA, a massive crop decline is expected.

No surplus stocks in Chile

After a record crop was initially expected in Chile for the current season, market players now reckon that the crop volume will be about the same as last season. The International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) even expects production to decline by about 13% to a good 55,000 mt. The old crop is almost sold out, so there are no significant surplus stocks to report. Meanwhile, the harvesting process for the new crop has begun and the trade expects relatively high prices as soon as the goods are available
