BEIJING. The Chinese New Year celebrations begin at the end of this week. In the north of the country, many factories are already closed and exporters are also saying goodbye to the market for the next few days.

Hope for improvement

As Chinese pumpkin seed traders report, many pumpkin seed factories in the north of the country started the holidays a few days early. The reason was the frosty weather as well as the coronavirus situation. In the meantime, the number of new infections is decreasing again and market players are confident that many people are sensible enough to refrain from the usual trips for the New Year. In addition, a negative test result is said to be required; a hurdle that many do not want to take, says one trader.
