Flaxseed: Kazakhstan's cultivation forecast 2021/2022

NUR-SULTAN. Experts at the Kazakh Grain Union (KGU) have provided initial estimates regarding the flaxseed acreage in 2021. Meanwhile, farmgate prices are expected to have reached their peak for this season.

Up to 1.4 million ha could be sown

The Kazakh Grain Union (KGU) expects Kazakhstan's farmers to sow 1.38-1.40 million ha for the upcoming flaxseed crop this year; This is what oilseed expert Evgeniy Karabanov told the AUDITOR editors on request. Including the usual difference between sown and harvested area, the acreage to be harvested could incerase by a good 100,000 ha year-on-year to 1.325-1.344 ha.
