CHRUDIM/ANKARA. The Czech poppy seeds are developing well, with the plants receiving sufficient moisture. Meanwhile, poppy seed exports experienced a significant upswing in March.

Growing areas are largely supplied

With prices of EUR 1.93-1.94/kg FCA Czech Republic for blue poppy seeds, <10 ppm morphine, prices at origin should have reached their peak for the time being. The supply of raw materials continues to dwindle and good quality poppy seeds in particular are hard to find. Market players therefore reckon that the market will start the new season with no significant overstock supplies. The precipitation of the past week is followed by warm temperatures and sunshine, which offers good conditions for the new crop.
