Dried apricots: speculations are rife

MALATYA. Attention has shifted towards the new apricot crop in Turkey. Speculations on dried apricot prices are also rife. While the trees are currently being assessed rumour has it that production will be good. In how far these considerations will prove true will show as soon as the first official crop estimates have been issued.

Encouraging prospects

Demand is still very much subdued and the exporters are still busy meeting existing contracts. Rumour, however, has it that prospects are highly encouraging for the new crop. Although frost damages occurred, the farmers are reckoning with a high production volume and good quality. The trees are currently being assessed for the crop report and official production estimates should be issued in mid-June.
