Pecans: China shakes up the market

ATLANTA. After China had largely withdrawn from the US pecan market during the trade dispute, there is now a clear upward trend again. Nevertheless, farmgate prices remain at a ten-year low.

New record for raw nut deliveries

In its latest report, the USDA estimates that US pecan stocks in cold storage are 30% below those of last year. These are shelled nuts that account for 85% of global exports, and the situation becomes evident by having a look at US April shipments. While stocks of shelled pecans fell by a good 7,700 mt in April, there was hardly any change in unshelled goods.
