Dried figs: encouraging export figures

AYDIN. Total exports since the beginning of the season have now almost reached the level of last year. However, the situation becomes difficult for traders as there are hardly any goods from the old crop available and it is still too early to provide information on the new crop.

Drought continues to pose risks

Turkish market players report that exporters continue to have their hands full processing their orders. Demand remains good and the president of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters' Association, Birol Celep, announced that since the beginning of the season, exports of sultanas, dried apricots and dried figs, which are among Turkey's leading agricultural export products, have reached a value of USD 798 million. This means that the coronavirus pandemic has had a positive impact on the buying interest for dried fruit
