SANTIAGO. In Chile, the quality of the new crop is good for prunes. Global supplies are, however, still limited and demand is supporting the market.

Good quality in Chile

Farmers and processors are busy with the new crop in Chile and exporters are ready to ship the first volumes. The quality of supplies, such as sugar content and condition, looks good and production is said to range at 80,000 mt. World supplies are, however, very much limited as hailstrom damages have reduced the crop in Argentina from an anticipated 50,000 mt to 18,000 mt.
