Prunes: Germany doubles imports from Argentina

SACRAMENTO/SANTIAGO. California has the lowest prune production in recent years, while Chile's 2021 crop is expected to be largely sold out already.

Prices remain stable

California Prunes had recently expected a 37% decline in production to 45,000 mt. According to market players, this would be the smallest crop in the last five years. At the same time, experts were optimistic that the overstock supplies should be sufficient to meet demand. Californian prunes, 30/40, not pitted are currently traded in the European spot market at a level of EUR 2.50/kg FCA Spain, for pitted prunes, 40/50 prices of about EUR 2.87/kg FCA Spain are called for.
