DALIAN. As the pesticide contamination of Chinese GWS kernels is steadily increasing, many buyers are now only purchasing goods with appropriate certification. This is causing considerable differences in prices. Meanwhile, demand has increased noticeably and organic goods are in short supply.

Speculators start buying

Prices on the Chinese pumpkin seed market have risen significantly in recent weeks as demand has increased both domestically and overseas. The commodity prices for shine skins are currently at CNY 13.5-14/kg. Some speculators have already started to build up their stocks to take advantage of the low prices, which has also contributed to the increases.
