BEJING. High freight charges are driving up pumpkin seed prices, despite subdued demand.

Firm prices in China

Although demand is largely subdued, prices have remained firm in China. High raw kernel prices are preventing further declines in market prices, especially since traders and speculators hold large volumes. They are not prepared to sell at low prices with which they would incur losses. Offers for grade AA shine skin kernels are very much limited. High demand from the roasters in China is also driving up the market for grade A kernels.
