BEIJING. The high farmgate prices cause considerable price differences in the Chinese pumpkin seed market. Depending on the supplier the export prices can vary up to USD 500/mt.

Desperate search for buyers

High prices and the weak market caused by the coronavirus pandemic have caused the demand for Chinese pumpkin seeds to drop significantly this year. In order to attract buyers, however, some suppliers are regularly reducing export prices - even at the risk of making only small profits on sales. Since not every exporter seems to follow this trend, the price range for shine skins, grade A is currently USD 2.69-3.14/kg CFR Hamburg, while shine skins, grade AA even vary between USD 2.97-3.44/kg CFR Hamburg.
