Pumpkin seeds: significant drop in production in China

DALIAN. As the acreage for pumpkin seeds in China is expected to decline by 50% this year, production will also be significantly lower than in 2024. The reasons for this are manifold.

Shine Skins account for a large proportion of production

Current estimates based on field studies and feedback from market players indicate that the acreage for pumpkin seeds in China will be around 84,000 hectares this year, which would correspond to a decline of around 50% compared to 2024, with around 44,000 hectares accounted for by Shine Skins, 23,330 hectares by the popular Lady Nails variety and around 16,670 hectares by Snow Whites.
