Pumpkin seeds: significant price increases

DALIAN. Compared to last week, the prices for GWS kernels in particular have risen sharply and even now the traders have little chance of getting hold of the required amount of goods. If the new crop turns out to be as small as expected, the situation is likely to worsen.

Traders in trouble

The Chinese pumpkin seed market saw significant price changes compared to last week, with GWS prices in particular skyrocketing. "People must be crazy!", a Chinese trader said in astonishment. The shine skin market is also moving: While raw material prices here were CNY 19.5/kg last week, they have now risen to CNY 21/kg – a significant price increase for just one week.
