DALIAN. The extremely high freight rates are making life difficult for Chinese suppliers, especially when it comes to concluding long-term contracts. Demand for shine skins is unusually high for this time of year.

Old crop is still in demand

Commodity prices on the Chinese shine skin market rose slightly last week as demand on the domestic market picked up. Buying interest is usually rather weak here in June and July, but this year the situation is different. Manufacturers of baked goods and snacks in particular are buying more pumpkin seeds than in previous years, meaning that the price is not falling as usual, but has actually been rising for the past two weeks.
