Sesame seeds: Bolivia's exports reach multi-year record

NEW DELHI/SUCRE. Weak demand and moderate arrivals from the growing regions are keeping the sesame seed market in India stable. Bolivia's exports have risen by 85% compared to last year.

Stable market in India

Domestic demand remains weak in the Indian sesame seed market, and stockists are cautious. As a result, prices remain largely stable, even though deliveries are coming in from southern India and new Rabi crops from Maharashtra will be coming onto the market from April onwards.

In Gujarat, arrivals of white sesame seeds remain at a high level of around 5,000 to 6,000 bags per day. In the Rajkot district, prices for higher grades ranged between USD 1.08/kg and USD 1.15/kg; for premium grades, prices of up to USD 1.20/kg are even being as
