NEW DELHI/BRASÍLIA. New crop arrivals are gaining in India. While the area sown is quite good for sesame seeds in Gujarat as leading producing state, the situation is quite different on the national level. Forecasts differ in Brazil.

Uptick in arrivals in India

New sesame arrivals are gradually picking up, keeping market sentiments weak. The prices for white and black sesame seeds are still under pressure, with black sesame seeds expected to decline by another USD 0.12-0.18/kg in the near term, as production will rise by 150% at least. Demand from exporters is moderate, and with improving arrivals across Gujarat, the market is expected to stay soft in the short term.

Sesame sowing in Gujarat has reached higher levels this season, driven by favourable weather and strong price realisations
