NEW DELHI/MAPUTO. While the Indian sesame seed market is struggling with cash problems, farmers in Mozambique have had a promising start to the season. Brazil wants to expand its trade with China.

Payment problems in India

The Indian sesame seed market is relatively quiet these days, although this is likely to change when the new crop arrives in the coming weeks. Commodity prices are declining, but this is not yet reflected in export prices, which remain unchanged from last week, with hulled sesame, 99.98% purity, still at USD 1,830/mt CIF Hamburg. Local market players are reporting weaker demand and that the market is experiencing a liquidity crisis as cash rotation is said to be very difficult.
