NEW DELHI/KHARTOUM. Sesame seed prices on the Indian market are coming under increasing pressure. Demand leaves much to be desired. In Sudan, lower rainfall has caused delays in sowing.

Falling prices in India

The summer months were characterised by significant price surges in the Indian sesame seed market. Following a noticeable upward correction in early June, a second increase followed in early July. Among other factors, this was due to the initial delays in sowing for the Kharif crop and the associated expectations of a significantly smaller crop volume.
