Sesame seeds: Kharif sowing is catching up

NEW DELHI/ANKARA. The sesame seed tender announced for July will take place later than originally anticipated. The Indian summer crop has largely been sold off. Meanwhile, Kharif sowing has made significant progress.

No tender in July

Contrary to initial expectations, South Korea’s next sesame seed tender will no longer take place in July. According to market players, the tender has now been announced for the first week of August. Experts, however, expect Indian exporters to face intense competitive pressure. Whilst they hope to win business on the strength of higher quality, prices from Pakistan and Brazil are 11-12% lower than those of Indian suppliers.
