Sesame seeds: larger acreage in Ethiopia

NEW DELHI/ADDIS ABABA. The hoped for price increase due to the sesame seed tender failed to materialise. Farmers in Ethiopia are growing more sesame seeds as other agricultural commodities are less lucrative.

New export conditions for shipments to the USA

Indian exporters only received a small share of the sesame seed tender from South Korea last week (600 mt), so there are currently still no price-driving factors in the export market. On the domestic trading markets, however, slight price increases have been observed in recent days as processors and consumers stock up for the holiday season.
