Sesame seeds: Pakistan increases exports to China by 280%

NEW DELHI/BEIJING. The Indian sesame seed market is still characterised by low trading activity. However, the first quantities from the new crop are expected to arrive on the markets from mid-April.

New crop in the starting blocks

The end of the marketing year in the Indian market (1 April - 31 March) has resulted in a slump in trading activity this week. For months now, however, low demand from the domestic and overseas has caused prices to decline again and again; they have currently reached a plateau and are at a level of USD 1,870/mt CIF Hamburg for sesame seeds, hulled, 99.98% purity.
