NEW DELHI. The results of the Korean tender mark a significant change. Nigeria is catching up fast.

The tender results

The tender was mainly awarded to suppliers in India, mainly due to cheap offers for high-quality seeds. A remarkably shift is, however, taking place for standard quality since India and Nigeria were equally awarded 1,500 mt. Deliveries from India are due by 19 September and deliveries from Nigeria by 19 October.

Price developments

Nominal fluctuations notwithstanding the tender has so far produced no noticeable impact on prices. They have generally remained on a similar level as last week. Depending on how far the exporters require additional purchases in order to ship their deliveries to Korea the market may witness nominal price increases over the next few days.

Market players expect China to conduct additional purchases from India over the next few months, which should cause prices to rise.
