NEW DEHLI. Reports on closed markets and low supplies in India are still being frequently issued. In reality, however, exporters in India are complaining about a lack of enquiries from overseas.

Measures to be further eased

India's food industry and agricultural sector have largely resumed work without obstructions some time ago. Many local trade markets, the so-called "mandis", have now been reopened. Previous to this, the farmers, however, already had the opportunity to deliver their products directly to processors and producers. Business may also resume in other areas as of Monday, provided that workers can keep their distance as stipulated in the regulations.

Sluggish demand from overseas

Sesame seed exporters in India are reporting little interest in Europe and in the US. There are, however, a few enquiries from China. Traders cut their export prices towards the end of last week and they have remained firm ever since. Hulled sesame seeds are trading at USD 1.70 per kg CIF Hamburg and natural sesame seeds at USD 1.53 per kg CIF Hamburg.
