NEW DELHI. South Korea’s new tender for sesame seeds is only unfolding a limited impact in India. Production will fall in Brazil. US buyers have turned to different producing countries.

New tender with limited impact

Expectation is that Gujarat’s summer sesame seed crop will produce 110,000–120,000 mt of white seeds and 40,000–60,000 mt of black seeds this year, marking a significant increase in black seeds compared to last year. Black sesame seed cultivation has expanded in Amreli, Bhavnagar, Mahua, and South Gujarat. The black sesame crop is abundant, supporting strong export demand, particularly from China, while white seeds should see steady export and domestic demand.
