Sesame seeds: tender largely fulfilled

SEOUL/NEW DELHI. South Korea had intended to purchase 20,000 mt of sesame seeds in the current tender. This quantity was not fully met. India, Pakistan and Burkina Faso each secured a significant share. India’s sesame seed exports have declined by 22%.

South Korea buys 17,400 mt

South Korea’s current sesame seed tender has been concluded; the tender was awarded last Wednesday. 20,000 mt of sesame seeds had been requested for shipment by the end of July; suppliers were awarded contracts for a total of 17,400 mt. Bids were accepted at delivery prices ranging from USD 1,388 to 1,599/mt CFR Busan. Indian exporters secured a total of 7,200 mt from the four individual lots, with a further 5,700 mt going to Pakistan and 3,000 mt to Burkina Faso.
