NEW DELHI. Results for the recent tender were rather surprising. Yet, the tender has little impact for sesame seeds in India. China is encouraging trade with Africa. US imports show diverse developments.

Low June tender results

South Korea issued a tender over 14,000 mt on 18 June, for which the bidding was held today. Result, however, is that the purchased volumes are a much lower 7,400 mt. Suppliers in India won the entire bids over 2,400 mt for P1, whereas P2 was mainly awarded to suppliers in Pakistan (4,400 mt). Indian exporters only won bids over 600 mt in this category.

Korea imported 22,687 mt of sesame seeds in January-April 2025, up 23% from the 18,380 mt shipped in the same period last year. However, the average import price fell by 9%, from USD 2
