NEW DELHI/SUCRE. New sesame seed tenders from South Korea are due to be announced in April and May. Indian exporters are hoping for better opportunities for shipments to China. Brazil’s crop could be smaller this year.

Advantages due to geographical proximity

The end of the marketing year in India has led to a slowdown in trading activity this week. Sesame seed prices are holding at their current low levels for the time being, although market players hope that they will rise soon. Due to higher freight costs for shipments from Brazil, Chinese buyers may temporarily turn to origins with shorter delivery routes. It is also reported that new sesame tenders from South Korea are expected in April and May, with a total volume of at least 12,000 mt.
