Sesame seeds: Traders cannot maintain price level

NEW DELHI. Sesame seed prices have skyrocketed due to delivery problems of African sesame seed exporters and sound demand from China. Nevertheless, the market has calmed down a bit with the conclusion of tenders.

 

India and Pakistan benefit
Korea published the last tender of this year for delivery at the end of December, which in turn drove up prices on the Indian sesame seed market. The result was announced last week – and prices have been on the way down again since.

Indian exporters have been awarded a total of 2,400 mt of standard-quality sesame seeds, with offer prices at 1,599 USD/mt CIF Korea. The remaining 1,500 mt of sesame seeds come from Pakistan, the suppliers managed to successfully position their offer just below the Indian offer, at a
