Cumin

As expected by market players, there were slight price declines on the Indian cumin market. Traders are nevertheless optimistic, as demand for Indian cumin is likely to pick up soon due to shrinking stocks in China and supply bottlenecks in other producing countries. India is currently the only major supplier of cumin worldwide, as other growers such as Turkey, Syria, Iran and Afghanistan will not bring their new crop to market until June or July. BRUSSELS. Although EU importers spent less on spices in 2025 than in the record year of 2024, the import value is still quite high as official statistics show. Record amounts were, in fact, spent on cardamom, fenugreek and spice mixtures, saffron and turmeric. Pepper tops the chart. While the year-to-year import value has risen for cinnamon, cloves and mace, the opposite is the case for capsicum, ginger and vanilla, cumin, nutmeg and coriander and curry.
