Spice market update: black pepper far from ripe enough

GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, turmeric and red chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

After rising last week the market has now changed direction again and the prices for A grade cumin with a 99% purity range USD 100/mt lower at USD 7,550/mt FOB India. Yet, this trend is mainly driven by profit taking. Prices should rise again in the next few weeks as demand is expected to increase in China and in India with the festival season starting. The new crop will, in addition, only arrive in around four weeks.

Turmeric

Turmeric has been trading in a narrow range in India in the past six weeks and prices have now gained
