Spice market update: new chilli crop arrives on the markets

GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and turmeric, chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

Traders expect a decline in cumin production this season in the main growing region of Gujarat. 373,700 mt are expected to be harvested this year compared to 375,420 mt last year. Weather conditions are currently favorable and prospective buyers are tending to hold off on bulk purchases as they await the arrival of the new crop next month. Prices have fallen as demand remains low and high overstock supplies are expected. Grade A cumin is currently trading at USD 1,887/mt FOB India.
