Cumin

Following the price increases in April, prices for Indian cumin declined again significantly in May. The upward trend in April was mainly due to continued strong demand from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Turkey, and farmers were willing to release large quantities of their stocks for sale. Following the terrorist attack in Kashmir, however, the tide has turned and there is now little trade with these countries. Arrivals on the mandis are still high, but there are fewer buyers, which is pushing prices down. The development in the near future is currently uncertain,
