Spice market update: considerable hike in prices

GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with current market information from India on cumin, coriander, turmeric, pepper, chilli peppers and cardamom as well as a price list with over 70 prices for products and raw materials

Cumin

Grade A cumin is trading lower than last week at USD 2,275 per metric tonne. Acreage gas increased notably in Gujarat from last year's 337,994 hectares to 435,657 hectares. Demand is low since buyers reackon that prodcution and new year means that trading activies are largely subdued in the export market.

Coriander seeds

Arrivals have declined this week. Concerns over crop damages induced by cold weather in Rajasthan are also driving up prices. Demand from bulk buyers is also strong. Coriander, Eagle 5% split is trading at USD

BRUSSELS. Although EU importers spent less on spices in 2025 than in the record year of 2024, the import value is still quite high as official statistics show. Record amounts were, in fact, spent on cardamom, fenugreek and spice mixtures, saffron and turmeric. Pepper tops the chart. While the year-to-year import value has risen for cinnamon, cloves and mace, the opposite is the case for capsicum, ginger and vanilla, cumin, nutmeg and coriander and curry.
