Cumin

Cumin arrivals at the markets have fallen sharply and there is currently virtually no demand for the spice. Not even large stockists and exporters are stocking up, leaving just under 40% of the crop with growers. China is currently offering its goods at the same price as India, but reliable export figures are not available and the situation is somewhat opaque. However, the chances of the country importing large quantities of cumin from India are rather slim. BRUSSELS. Although EU importers spent less on spices in 2025 than in the record year of 2024, the import value is still quite high as official statistics show. Record amounts were, in fact, spent on cardamom, fenugreek and spice mixtures, saffron and turmeric. Pepper tops the chart. While the year-to-year import value has risen for cinnamon, cloves and mace, the opposite is the case for capsicum, ginger and vanilla, cumin, nutmeg and coriander and curry.
