Cumin

Farmers are currently busy sowing cumin, which is why arrivals at the markets continue to decline. Analysts expect that both export and domestic demand should increase soon; while increased buying interest from hotels and restaurants is expected domestically, exporters expect shipments to the US and Europe in particular to increase. Some market players even expect exports to rise by 15-20% compared to last year. Prices for grade A cumin have seen a minimal increase and are currently at USD 1,940/mt FOB India.

TEHRAN. Traders in Iran report that monthly cumin exports have slumped by more than 90% in November 2021 as opposed to the same period in 2020. Issue is that prices in other producing countries such as India are far more attractive than in Iran. This has prompted a sharp shift in demand.
