Prices for red chilli remain largely stable to slightly higher this week, supported by limited sales from farmers and cautious but steady demand from traders and exporters. Although some arrivals are still taking place, market activity remains moderate. At the beginning of the season, arrivals of red chilli rose sharply in Guntur and other important markets in the south. However, persistently low prices prompted growers to limit their sales, resulting in daily arrivals of only around 45,000 to 50,000 bags, only a fraction of which were of high quality. Over t

BRUSSELS. Although EU importers spent less on spices in 2025 than in the record year of 2024, the import value is still quite high as official statistics show. Record amounts were, in fact, spent on cardamom, fenugreek and spice mixtures, saffron and turmeric. Pepper tops the chart. While the year-to-year import value has risen for cinnamon, cloves and mace, the opposite is the case for capsicum, ginger and vanilla, cumin, nutmeg and coriander and curry.
