Spice market update: smaller black pepper crop

GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and turmeric, chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

As in the previous week, cumin prices have managed to rise slightly. This is much to the relief of growers and traders, who have been hit hard by the price falls of recent months. Exports have increased significantly, which has stabilised prices – the low prices have encouraged buyers from overseas to make larger purchases. Domestic demand is also rising, while arrivals have passed their peak phase and are slowly declining. Traders are currently facing difficult decisions, as it is not clear which direction prices will take in the coming weeks. Grade A c
