Cumin

Indian cumin has lost almost 40% in value over the last year and although market players are still clinging to their hopes, prices have fallen again compared to last week. Currently, the quality of the new crop is titled as good and if the weather is favourable next month, this year's production is estimated to be around 365,000 mt; about 12% less than the 418,000 mt harvested last year. BRUSSELS. Although EU importers spent less on spices in 2025 than in the record year of 2024, the import value is still quite high as official statistics show. Record amounts were, in fact, spent on cardamom, fenugreek and spice mixtures, saffron and turmeric. Pepper tops the chart. While the year-to-year import value has risen for cinnamon, cloves and mace, the opposite is the case for capsicum, ginger and vanilla, cumin, nutmeg and coriander and curry.
