Cumin

Indian cumin continues its upward trend, although the duration remains uncertain. Two factors are currently driving this trend: geopolitical tensions in Iran, which are affecting trade in the Gulf states and supporting export demand in India, and increased stockpiling by large traders and warehouses in anticipation of further profits. Until the new Chinese crop arrives in July/August, India will remain the most important source of supply for importers. However, market players do not expect a lasting price increase. BRUSSELS. Although EU importers spent less on spices in 2025 than in the record year of 2024, the import value is still quite high as official statistics show. Record amounts were, in fact, spent on cardamom, fenugreek and spice mixtures, saffron and turmeric. Pepper tops the chart. While the year-to-year import value has risen for cinnamon, cloves and mace, the opposite is the case for capsicum, ginger and vanilla, cumin, nutmeg and coriander and curry.
