Spices: Turmeric farmers heading towards record sowing figures

GUJARAT. Scarce availability has caused pepper prices to increase, while farmers are in the process of ploughing vast areas of arable land with turmeric and cardamom traders are being met with substandard import goods.

Cumin
Lack of demand overseas has put prices of Indian cumin under pressure. This week has seen an increase in prices due to higher interest in buying from foreign customers. Grade A, 99% Purity Cumin increased by 9 EUR/mt and ended the week at 2,453 EUR/mt FOB. Demand from South American countries like Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, as well as the Middle East is particularly strong.
