FRANKFURT/BRUSSELS. Sluggish sales and the suspension of Christmas markets and major events mean that white refined sugar stocks have piled up in Germany. Sugar consumption is expected to decline in the EU.

Prices remain firm

The market has remained sluggish and prices are relatively firm. Medium fine granulated sugar, EC cat. II is trading in a stable range of EUR 0.455 -0.460/kg DDP Germany for delivery in big bags. Only small volumes are being traded as the new marketing year will be starting soon. Wine production should, nevertheless, give demand a small boost at the end of September.
