Sugar: Dramatic decline in EU stocks

WASHINGTON, D.C/FRANKFURT. According to the recently issued annual report of the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) on the sugar market in the EU, production is expected to recover in MY 2019/20...

...The end-of-season stocks should, however, only amount to just over 1 million mt. Some processors are likely to struggle with purchasing enough sugar. Meanwhile, market all eyes are on the new crop in the German market.

Production to rise by 7%

FAS is currently estimating EU sugar production at 19.4 million mt in MY 2019/20, an increase of nearly 7% over last year.
