Sugar: Heat stress also in the EU beet cultivation

FRANKFURT. Initially, the European sugar beet crop seemed to be able to withstand the summer heat well, by now however, yield losses cannot be ruled out.

The hot period did not leave sugarcane production in large EU producer countries such as France, Germany and Poland unaffected, whereby there can be significant regional differences. Prior to that, damp and cool weather had delayed sowing in many growing countries last spring.
