6% less sugar beets

According to the Czech Statistical Office, sugar beet production has declined by 6% since than last year. Despite an increase in yields of 2.8% to 59.1 metric tonnes per hectare, the 8.6% reduction in acreage to 59,000 hectares has prompted a decrease in production. In order to promote sales and to reduce stocks before the year comes to an end, some traders are offering granulated sugar, EU Cat. II from EUR 0.485 per kg DDP Germany.
