MANISA. A higher raw material input means that this season’s more abundant crops cannot be converted directly into sultana production. Farmers remain dissatisfied with commodity prices. Exports are going well.

The Turkish Farmers’ Union, Çiftçi-Sen, has set out the grape growers’ dissatisfaction with the results of the 2026 crop in a written statement. The production of dried grapes has not risen to the extent expected. Insufficient sugar content and inadequate flavour development had led to a higher reject rate. Last year, growers had obtained 1 kg of raisins from 5.0-5.5 kg of grapes; this year, 7.0-7.5 kg of grapes were required to produce 1 kg of raisins.
