SOFIA/BUENOS AIRES. Good crops in Argentina are expected to partially offset the deficit in the European sunflower seed market. In 2026, the South American country is expected to once again produce well over 5 million mt of sunflower seeds.

Sunflower seed production in Argentina already set a new record in the 2024/25 season. According to official data from the US Department of Agriculture, the last crop amounted to 5.592 million mt. Harvesting for the 2025/26 season has been underway in Argentina since January, with the season officially starting in March. Experts are expecting very good production this season as well.
