Sunflower seeds: Concerns over road charges

SOFIA. After the turbulent start to the season for the suppliers in Eastern Europe, the first wave of excitement has subsided. Bulgaria has now decided to introduce road charges.

 

Differing estimates

The rainy summer and dry autumn created ideal conditions for high yields in Bulgaria and other parts of Eastern Europe. Whereas analysts and market observers agree that this year’s crop iss good, the production estimates differ considerably and range from 1.90 million mt (Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture), over 2.01 million mt (Coceral) to 2.44 million mt (APK Inform). Corrections are still possible. In December Coceral will publish an updated crop report on European grains and oilseeds.
