Sunflower seeds: crop estimates revised downwards again

SOFIA/DALIAN. At the end of September, the updated crop estimates for EU sunflower seed production were published. Once again, a downward trend was recorded.

Moderate increase in EU-wide production

The European Commission's updated crop estimates further reduced the expected increase over the previous year. EU-wide sunflower seed production is currently estimated at 8.653 million mt, which would be just 4.4% more than last year. In August, the forecast was still 8.771 million mt. The decline is primarily due to further yield corrections in Hungary, Bulgaria and France.
