Sunflower seeds: crop forecasts continue to deteriorate

SOFIA/KYIV. Heat and drought are causing crop forecasts in countries such as Russia and Ukraine to decline, the same applies to Romania and Bulgaria. Demand has risen massively in the Bulgarian sunflower seed market.

Constant adjustments

Above-average temperatures without any redeeming rainfall are causing concerns for the European sunflower seed market. The experts at APK-Inform are already reckoning that lower yields are to be expected. However, thanks to larger acreages, a production result of 14.4-14.5 million mt should still be possible in Ukraine.
